The Toyota Hybrid car and SUV models are designed to leave the days of fuel dependency behind by combining the fuel-efficiency of electric driving technology with the reliability of gas. Toyota Hybrids use Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, which is a full hybrid system, rather than a parallel or series type.
“Toyota Hybrid models have two engines: one gas and one electric. The two engines work seamlessly together to give drivers power and fuel efficiency with zero effort from the driver, but can also work alone. The hybrid car or SUV will switch back and forth between the gas and electric engines automatically depending on your driving needs.”
In the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system, the engine charges the battery through the generator while it’s running. In certain driving conditions, like when the car is going slowly or is stopped, the generator can cut out the gas engine so that the electric motor powers the car, saving fuel. When more power is needed, the gas engine will come back on automatically–the driver doesn’t have to drive or do anything differently to take advantage of the fuel efficiency of the Toyota hybrid models.
